About Exemption Map: Sources and Contact

Exemption Map is a free, plain-English guide to the property tax breaks homeowners can apply for on the home they live in: homestead exemptions, breaks for seniors, veterans, people with disabilities and surviving spouses, and the main low-income credits. For each state we explain what each break is worth, who qualifies, how and where to apply, the deadline and whether you must reapply.

We are not a law firm and not a government agency, and we don't represent anyone. Only your county, city or town assessor, or the office your state names, can decide an application. We link to official sources: state revenue and taxation departments, assessors and state statutes.
